Mr. Zissel is an experienced trial attorney who focuses his practice on plaintiff’s personal injury litigation. Mr. Zissel has successfully resolved over a thousand personal injury matters and has litigated hundreds of personal injury cases in courts throughout the state of Maryland. During his tenure as a personal injury attorney, he has also taken and defended hundreds of depositions.
Mr. Zissel also runs the firms workers’ compensation practice and routinely tries cases in front of the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission.
Additionally, Mr. Zissel handles all of the firm’s M.V.A. hearings at the Maryland State Office of Administrative Hearings and assists with criminal and traffic matters at the District Court level.
Mr. Zissel began his professional career interning for the Chief Judge of the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland while still in law school. Following this internship he clerked for both the Maryland Attorney General’s Office and a prominent Baltimore litigation firm.
Following his graduation from law school, Mr. Zissel served as law clerk to the Honorable Louis A. Becker of the Circuit Court for Howard County. Upon completion of his clerkship, Mr. Zissel worked as an insurance defense attorney in the areas of personal injury and worker’s compensation defense.
In 2008, Mr. Zissel joined Silverman Thompson Slutkin & White. Having handled cases from both sides of the table has given Mr. Zissel a distinct advantage and helped hone the analytical and practical skills needed as a successful trial attorney.
Honors, Awards and Appointments
Mr. Zissel graduated from Rollins College where he was a Presidential Scholar. He attended the University of Baltimore School of law as a Dean’s Scholar. While in law school he received an award for having the highest grade in banking law and served as the Student Representative to the Maryland Chapter of the Lawyers Campaign Against Hunger.
Mr.Zissel was nominated by his peers to be a Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2012 and 2013. Additionally he was named one of the Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 in the state of Maryland by the National Trial Lawyers Association in 2012 and 2013.
He is active in both local and state bar activities and regularly volunteers for many local charitable causes.
